About
When it comes to a traditional in-ground burial, your family can choose one of our two Thornapple Township cemeteries, Mt. Hope or Parmelee.
Parmelee
Parmelee Cemetery is located in the northern section of the Township on Parmelee Road between Stimson Road and Whitneyville Road. There are no lot sales in this cemetery, however, we still accept burials for current lot owners. Please contact the Township Hall for more information.
Mt. Hope
Mt. Hope Cemetery was established in 1875 and has expanded into many sections over time. It is located east of downtown Middleville off of Old M-37 (E. Main St. /West State Rd.) on the eastern edge of the Village of Middleville.
After Hours
If you have an emergency that occurs after normal business hours and need to contact someone at the Township immediately regarding a cemetery lot, please call the Township Clerk.

How Do Ownership Rights Work?
Thornapple Township does not re-purchase lots from current owners. You must establish ownership rights to any lot used for a burial. If a lot is owned by a deceased relative, you must show proof from all descendants of your right to the lot. Those wishing to transfer lot ownership should complete a transfer form. The transfer of burial rights for any lot is $25 per transfer to cover processing expenses.
